7 Quick Takes

This week we have been adding Chaplets to our collection of handmade rosaries. We now have chaplets for Saint Gerard, the Seven Sorrows, and the Sacred heart. We are wondering what chaplet to add next, any suggestions? Feel free to send them to us in our comments!

We have been praying a novena this past week for a web site proposal that I submitted  for work. While praying, our son, who is always a ham, arrived looking like this.

This made it a bit hard to concentrate on our novena.

I am discovering that ADD and working from home don’t mix. I seem to get started on 100 things in a day, but don’t feel like I am accomplishing any on thing. If I could only get a job as a brainstormer I would be all set. (because there is most definitely a storm going on in my brain).

Speaking of not accomplishing anything, this week when I felt like I was not accomplishing much so I decided to mow the lawn. It more than needed it and that way I would be getting something done, or so I thought. After a few passes with the mower I blew a belt…this was not what I needed to establish a sense of completion.

The kids have been enjoying playing in the pile of dirt left behind by a construction crew burying fiber optic lines. Then they had the inspiration to make a flag and stake their claim. They declared the pile of dirt in the back yard American soil! It was a triumphant moment.

Last week corn, this week peaches, lots and lots of peaches! We got a great deal on a bushel, which was about 50 lbs of peaches. We canned some in large slices and made some into jam (our first time ever making jam) and it all turned out great! My wife made stuffed french toast for dinner with a cream cheese filling and fresh peach jam, it was a wonderful dinner!

After deep reflection I have come to the conclusion that going to confession is a lot like processing 50 lbs of peaches (or 20 dozen cobs of corn like last week).

You know it has to be done, no one else is going to do it for you, you want to put it off and wait, but you know its time. You don’t like to do it, its not really fun, but the reward when it is over is so sweet!

If there’s ever a job opening for BRAINSTORMER, we’ll have to compete for it. You could be my twin with the unfinished projects and the sense of accomplishment you’re waiting to fulfill. God bless you!
