7 Quick Takes

This fine piece of art, sculpted by my 5 year old daughter, is a deer….

Can you tell that I (Matt) am a bow hunter (notice the clay arrow in the deer’s vitals) and we don’t keep the source of our food a secret from our little ones. My favorite part is this poor clay deer’s mouth, my daughter said it is saying, “ooooooohhhhh!”

My wonderful wife made apple pie from scratch yesterday and it was amazing. Her cooking is a blessing to our family (especially when it is in the form of pie). And she even let me taste a bite before dinner (notice the small hole), which was really so she could make sure it was good before she told the kids she had made it. We even picked the apples for this pie on our way home from Mass, it was a good day :).

It is an amazing thing to see all the kids playing happily together. This was the view looking into the backyard the other day.

My wife and I, along with our next door neighbors shucked, blanched, cut and bagged over 20 dozen ears of corn on Wednesday. It was a fun process and we enjoyed visiting with our neighbors as well as the bags of fresh sweet corn!

I have been working on editing the audio for our “Pray the Rosary DVD” we have been working on. It is a slow process, but it is coming along well. Ben loves to hear what ever I am listening to so he sometimes joins me, or in this case was working without me, on editing the audio. He was listening to the prayers of the Rosary, I love how he is folding his hands in prayer 🙂

My wife is only 4 weeks away from her due date. To me this is very very close and time I start to get nervous because, as we all know, having a baby is a lot of work and stress on a husband. Contrary to what I was thinking, I have been informed, in very clear terms, that 4 weeks is a very very long time to go. I have to admit that our little one moves and squirms like nothing I have ever seen before (outside of Sci-Fi movies), not to mention the daily hiccups which make my wife crazy 🙂

We are excited to have launched our new site www.ProLifeRosary.com this week. With this new site we will promote the praying of the Rosary for the end to the culture of death and for the protection of the unborn. We also have a few different pro-life rosary designs available as well and a Saint Gerard chaplet with prayers to Saint Gerard for mothers and expectant mothers. We would also like to make these Rosaries available for pro-life groups to sell as fundraisers for their groups. Since the launch of our site, just this week, we have been moved by the stories of how the pro-life Rosary has impacted some of our site’s visitors.

  1. One of my fondest memories was shucking 12 dozen ears of corn at my brother’s Godparent’s farm. I am durn good at it still.

  2. I love the play doh deer being shot with an arrow. My husband hunts also and we do not shy away from discussing the origins of our meat with our girls either. My girls love to practice shooting their small bows and are eager to hunt with Daddy someday.

I am going to head over to your other website now to check out the rosaries and St. Gerard chaplets. A friend and I are restarting our parish’s Elizabeth Ministry, and I think it would be wonderful to have some St. Gerard chaplets to give to new and expecting mothers 🙂
